When starting a new job, it’s essential to get to know your coworkers and establish good working relationships. Here are some questions to ask your new coworkers to help break the ice and learn more about them:
- How long have you been with the company, and what initially attracted you to it?
- What role do you play in the team, and what are your primary responsibilities?
- Can you tell me a bit about your background and previous experience?
- What do you enjoy most about working here?
- Are there any specific projects or initiatives you’ve been involved in that you found particularly interesting or rewarding?
- What is the team dynamic like, and how do you all typically collaborate on projects?
- Are there any company traditions or social activities that I should know about?
- Is there anything I should be aware of in terms of team or company culture?
- Do you have any tips or advice for someone new to the team?
- Are there any professional development opportunities or resources you recommend?
- How do you prefer to communicate within the team (e.g email, chat, in-person meetings)?
- Are there any unwritten rules or norms I should be aware of?
- What are your favourite local lunch spots or after-work hangouts nearby?
- Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of work?
- What is your favourite part about working in this industry?
