How to stop phone chargers from breaking

How annoying is it when your mobile phone charger all of a sudden stops working? It means having to beg family and friends to borrow their charger whilst you make a trip to the shops to purchase a new one (or order one online).

Not only that but some mobile phone chargers can cost up to £20.

So here are seven simple ways to stop your mobile phone charger from breaking:

  1. Do not use your phone whilst it is charging as moving it around will cause the cable to bend. Leave it still ideally on a flat surface.
  1. Take good care of cables when you are not using them. It is easy just to leave them plugged into the wall, lying on a desk or at the bottom of your bag but this could cause them some accidental damage. Instead, keep them somewhere safe or consider buying a protective case or wallet for them.
  1. When unplugging the charger, do not pull the wire. Hold the plug or the part that connects to your phone and gently remove it.
  1. Purchase a wireless charger for which you only need to set your phone on top.
  1. This is an older trick but try wrapping electric tape around the ends of the cable.
  1. Wrap the cable with thread.
  1. Purchase a cable protector. This is a small plastic or rubber roll that wraps around the cable to prevent it from twisting or bending.
