How to download your tweets from Twitter

0

Decided to leave Twitter? Worried that your tweets will suddenly be deleted? Well, thankfully there is a very simple way to download an archive of your tweets using the Twitter app on an iOS or Android device. There is an option to request a ZIP file containing an archive of your account. Simply open the Twitter app and follow the instructions below to download your tweets from Twitter.

  1. Select your profile icon
  2. Scroll down and select ‘Settings and Support’
  3. Select ‘Settings and privacy’
  4. Select ‘Your Account’
  5. Select ‘Download an archive of your data’
  6. You will be asked to type in your password
  7. A verification code will be sent to the email address or mobile number registered to your account (you can choose which you prefer). Once you receive this code enter it into the box on the screen.
  8. Select ‘Request archive’

A message will then be displayed saying that you will be informed when your download is ready. It can sometimes take up to 24 hours or more for your download to be ready. Remember, requesting an archive of your tweets will not cause your account to be deleted. If you later decide you wish to delete your account altogether you will need to do that separately.

According to Twitter support, the ZIP file will contain your account information, history, tweet history, apps and devices used to access your account, accounts that you have muted and blocked, interests and any other data Twitter has about you.
