Whether you’re scrolling through your timeline or engaging with posts, increasing the font size can reduce eye strain and make the platform more accessible. Here’s how you can easily adjust the font size on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Adjusting font size in the x mobile app
If you’re using X on a smartphone or tablet, follow these steps to change the font size:
Open the X app: Launch the X app on your device.
Go to settings: Tap on your profile picture in the top-left corner to open the sidebar menu. Scroll down and select “Settings and Support”, then tap “Settings and Privacy.”
Navigate to display settings: Under the “Accessibility, display, and languages” section, choose “Display.”
Adjust the font size slider: You’ll see a slider under the “Font size” section. Drag the slider to the right to increase the font size. The preview above the slider will update in real-time, so you can find the perfect size.
Save your changes: Once you’re satisfied with the font size, simply exit the settings. Your new font size will apply instantly across the app.
Changing font size on the web version of x
If you use X on a desktop or laptop, you’ll need to adjust the font size through your browser or system settings, as the web version of X doesn’t offer a built-in font size adjustment. Here are two common methods:

Using your browser’s zoom function
Most modern web browsers allow you to zoom in on webpages, which effectively increases the font size.
- Keyboard shortcut: Press Ctrl (Windows) or Command (Mac) and the “+” key to zoom in. Use “-“ to zoom out.
- Mouse gesture: Hold down Ctrl or Command and scroll up with your mouse wheel.
- Browser menu: Open your browser’s menu (usually represented by three dots or lines in the corner), and look for the zoom option to adjust the size.
Adjusting accessibility settings on your device
For a more permanent solution, you can increase font sizes system-wide:
- Windows: Go to Settings > Ease of Access > Display to adjust text size.
- Mac: Navigate to System Settings > Accessibility > Display and increase text size.
Tips for a better reading experience
- Enable Dark Mode: Reducing brightness can help ease the strain of reading larger text, especially at night. You can enable Dark Mode in the same Display Settings on X.
- Use High-Contrast Text: This option, also found in the Accessibility section, can make text easier to read regardless of font size.
